We do experience longer than usual wait times. If you require admission, the wait may take a few hours. Our medical team will continue to see to your care at ED until you are warded. Only one visitor may accompany the patient at any one time.
Managing Life-Threatening Emergencies
Our Emergency Department (ED) is one of the busiest in the country. Our priority is to attend to patients with serious illnesses, injuries and life-threatening emergencies. Ward admission is prioritised for urgent and critically ill cases.
If your medical condition is not an emergency, please seek medical attention at your nearest or preferred General Practitioner (GP) or Polyclinic.
We provide 24-hour emergency services in trauma care, toxicology, observational medicine, pre-hospital emergency care, disaster medicine, and is one of the busiest emergency departments in Singapore. Our team provides medical expertise for emergencies which are sudden, urgent or unexpected occurrences that require immediate medical attention. The conditions include:
- Sudden, severe chest pains or breathlessness
- Loss of consciousness
- Drug overdose or poisoning
- Broken bone or dislocation
- Deep cuts with uncontrollable bleeding
- Choking or difficulty in breathing
- Head injuries with bleeding, drowsiness or vomiting
- Traffic or worksite accident
- Sudden abdominal pains that do not subside
See Your Family Doctor for Non-emergency Conditions
Most non-emergency cases which are common and mild can be treated by visiting your family doctor. These include mild fever, small cuts or bruises, localised rash or insect bite, chronic aches and pains, cough and colds, superficial burn or scald, mild diarrhoea and vomiting.
Visit a
GPFirst clinic near you. If you require further medical attention, the GPFirst clinic will refer you to the nearest emergency department, and you will receive a $50 subsidy on the prevailing ED attendance fee.
GoGP is a new way for you to find and book an appointment at a nearby GPFirst clinic from the comfort of your phone. GoGP also shows your position in the queue at the GP clinic, and notifies you by SMS when it’s almost your turn.
GoGP is a pilot between Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Open Government Products (GovTech), and more GPs will be added soon.
